David Shapiro, M.D. is a LASIK Surgeon in Santa Barbara and the Medical Director of Shapiro Laser Vision where he provides LASIK in Santa Barbara as well as specialized types of LASIK Eye Surgery in Santa Barbara such as Custom LASIK, for patients from throughout Santa Barbara County. Dr. Shapiro received his Medical Degree from the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine and then completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of California-Davis School of Medicine. Prior to entering practice to perform Laser Eye Surgery in Santa Barbara, Dr. Shapiro attended his Fellowship in Fellowship in Refractive Surgery making a specialist in Laser Eye Surgery. As the Founder of Shapiro Eye Laser Center, he personally performs all Custom LASIK and LASIK Surgery in Santa Barbara at Shapiro Eye Laser Center and has performed more than 10,000 LASIK procedures in Santa Barbara.
Dr. Shapiro is an invited instructor in refractive surgery including LASIK, Custom LASIK and other types of specialized LASIK Surgery such as monovision LASIK at Stanford University Department of Ophthalmology, University of California-Los Angeles Geffen School of Medicine, University of California-Davis and University of California-Irivne and has served as a Clinical Investigator for the Clinical Trials to obtain Food and Drug Administration approval for LASIK. He has authored more than 30 authoritative articles on refractive eye surgery and has contributed chapters to textbooks on refractive surgery as well as developed many surgical instruments used in eye surgery.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a not only a highly experienced California LASIK Surgeon, but is a refractive surgery patient himself. Having had refractive surgery gives Dr. Shapiro a unique perspective and insight from which to advise and counsel patients and answer their questions.
