Frank W. Before founding Bowden Eye Associates and performing LASIK Eye Surgery in Jacksonville, Dr. Bowden served as a battalion surgeon for the 1st Battalion, 4th Marines (REIN) in 29 Palms, CA; a General Medicine Officer for the U.S. Marine Corps, also in 29 Palms; and a staff Ophthalmologist for the U.S. Naval Service at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. In 1989 founded the Baptist Eye Institute in Jacksonville , Florida of which he was a member until 2000.
Dr. Bowden has received numerous awards including the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society Award, the U.S. Navy Commendation Medal, the U.S. Navy Achievement Medal, “Top Doctors” in Jacksonville, Jacksonville Magazine 2004, 2005 and “Best Doctors” Award. He is a certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Duval County Medical society and the Paton Corneal Society.
